This companion is designed to be used alongside What We Carry, Volume Two. Each of the twelve stories has its own unit containing five elements: a Core Truth, a Memory Word, three Discussion Questions, a Reflective Writing Activity, and a Carry Forward prompt - a small, concrete practice to take into the week.
The stories can be used in any order. They do not build sequentially. Each stands alone and addresses a distinct emotional territory. For classroom use, we recommend one story per week, reading together and discussing in the same session. For coaching and counseling contexts, let the young person choose which story to read first.
The Discussion Questions are designed to open conversation, not close it. There are no correct answers. If a question lands quietly in the room, let it sit. Silence is often the story doing its work.
The Reflective Writing Activities are private by default. Do not ask students or participants to share unless they choose to. The act of writing is the work - sharing is optional.
